Push to Card

Funds sent to a debit or prepaid card is called push to card. Push to card is an instant settlement payment rail available 24/7, 365 similar to RTP. However, the funds travels over the card networks and the recipient is a card, not a bank account.

In Modern Treasury, a push to card payment is represented as a Payment Order with a type of card and adirection of credit.

Modern Treasury currently supports sending funds to domestic cards issued by Visa or Mastercard.

PCI

Currently, entering the card recipient data in Modern Treasury involves sending card numbers, or Primary Account Numbers (PANs), via the Modern Treasury API.

Managing the recipient card numbers can potentially put Modern Treasury customers in scope for an industry security standard called Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). We encourage customers using Modern Treasury's Push to Card product to consider how they will manage their PCI exposure before enabling the rail.
