Checks
A check is a document that orders a bank to pay a specific amount of money from a person's account to the person in whose name the check has been issued. Checks are still broadly used in the United States as a valid form of sending money.
Checks can be issued through Modern Treasury via the API or Dashboard as either printed or digital checks. Printed checks are printed and mailed to the recipient. Digital checks are generated as downloadable PDF files that you deliver to the recipient.
Completion Timing For Check Payments
Check payments typically take longer to complete than electronic payment methods because the recipient has to proactively deposit the check. Printed checks also require physical delivery; digital checks are available as PDF files after they are generated.
To support your use case, Modern Treasury allows you to customize how long a check is valid before it automatically expires in order to adapt to your specific use case.
Cutoffs for Originated Check Payments
These timings only affect printed checks. Digital checks are not subject to these printed-check batch cutoffs.
