Create Identification

Creates a single identification on an existing legal entity, without resending the legal entity's other identifications. Identification documents may be included inline via documents, or attached later with Create Document.

id_number is sensitive and is never returned in API responses.

Individuals require identification documents: a driver's license needs both identification_front and identification_back, a passport only identification_front.

Body Params

legal_entity_id

string

required

The UUID of the legal entity the identification belongs to.

id_type

string

required

The type of ID number. See list of Identifications.

id_number

string

required

The ID number of the identification document. Not included in API responses.

issuing_country

string

The ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 country code of the country that issued the identification. Not needed for ID types with a country code prepended.

issuing_region

string

The sub-national region (state, province, territory) that issued the identification document. For a US driver's license issued in California, this would be "CA".

expiration_date

date

The date when the Identification is no longer considered valid by the issuing authority.
